Original Music Star is Born: Bay Area Rockers Zen Vendetta Win $ 10,000 make an asterisk Web-to-TV Competition
Reality TV seems to thrive in the worst kind of drama – Unnecessary conflict with people so obnoxious it's hard to find someone you think deserves to be seen on TV. Then make a star, a new syndicated show Fuse on Saturday morning for a 13 episode season, which showed that stereotype around – exposes a wealth of unsigned U.S. bands and artists to a national television audience, and finishing everything down to two finalists who compete for a $ 10,000 cash prize, the only shame was that one of them had to lose.
Make A Star's concept was simple, but unique in order to streamline the Internet with television – upload a music video for free to MakeAStar.com Compete for fan votes and dozens of music industry judges, hope, and your video will be broadcast on the weekly show. Hundreds of acts in everything from hip-hop, country, electro, punk, pop and metal, but at the end of Hollywood Phase holder only two bands were left – Fools & Horses and title = "Zen Vendetta"> Zen Vendetta.
title = "Fools and Horses"> Fools & Horses was formed in 2002 and has built a huge fan base in Baltimore / Washington DC area a tireless list of concerts. This live excellence comes through in their making a star competition song "Selfish". Singer / guitarist Matt Hutchison and gang members Kent Warren (bass), Steve Herrera (guitar) and Tim Hutchison (drums) mixing layers of riffs, tempo and melodies into a euphoric energy that can make a wide range of dance floors on fire with ease. Fools & Horses do schism in alternative rock seem to disappear, with influences from Britpop to the American classic rock fills stellar landscape of their critically acclaimed album I Am The Ghost. These guys are going to be great.
Make A Star Matt Hutchison flew from Baltimore to Southern California on short notice for the final show, where he met Zen Vendetta singer Scott Eckardt and bassist Josh Wolfer, who hopped aboard the much shorter flight from Oakland to Orange County.
The show featured extended artist interviews, behind-the-scenes footage of both bands on the plane and arrive at their hotels, and special joint performances of each band contest song opponent joining in each other's songs.
Then came the winning message that Russ Regan, A & R legend who helped launch Elton John's American success, signed Neil Diamond and Brian Wilson gave the idea to name his band The Beach Boys, came out to open the envelope. While both bands had great fan switches and high judges scores came Zen Vendetta out on top, taking home $ 10,000 cash prize.
Matt Hutchison gracefully accepted the surprise $ 1,000 runners-up check, and his reflections on the process revealed a growing band with a refreshingly mature and favorable disposition. "I can not tell you how much fun the band and I had to make a star. Although we were runners up, I left Orange County feeling much a champion. From the production staff to host and producer, I experienced a class act unfold on camera. I predict big things of Make a star and was excited to be part of it! "
For Zen Vendetta's Scott Eckardt, was it is a time to shine. Lead singer has shared the stage with several major hard rock acts during his career but has remained mostly a well kept secret outside the East Bay city Livermore, California, where he began his musical journey as a singer for the band Os in the 1980s and still calls home today.
Livermore is obviously only a few minutes away from the Altamont Speedway, site of the 1969 Rolling Stones free concert, holds some of rock and roll's darkest memories. But Eckardt's lyrics for their Make A Star Competition singing "I'm Alive" is a world removed from those ghosts – emotional, honest and socially radical, the song paints a reflective, positive image of love and courageous self-confidence that makes it an anthem for emboldening the zeitgeist of 2009 America, yet delivered with a sense of poetic metaphor, the stand the test.
Musically, the song mixes elements of classic rock and modern alternative rock act together, and the band looks mix of "a vintage soul modern blood "as a key to their success. Josh Wolff (bass), Ben Sairin (guitar) & Chris Mabry (drums) can rock hard, strum softly and crafts tight and catchy hooks, but what makes the band special is a feeling that they all have slightly different tastes in music and revel in that diversity. There are hints of 1960 summer of love, of Led Zeppelin thundering at a stadium, early U2 and Guns N 'Roses hang out and enjoy each others music of Pearl Jam's finest moments, and it all begins to feel that a mini-history of rock and roll is woven among the song's textures.
Winning make a star Original Music Contest is a big step for the young band (formed in 2006 with the final lineup, which as recently as last year), which could pave the way for their debut full length CD Out On The West Coast due in stores this month. Zen Vendetta has the ambitious goal of "creating rock sound of the future" and by winning the Make A Star competition, they have received a high roar of approval that they are well on track – and the future looks bright, as Scott says "with all the negativity in the world, Zen Vendetta gives a glimpse of the sun is shining through the rain. "
