music production programs?
I am an aspiring music producer… Right now i was looking into protools… I know this software is industry standard, but i want to start indie… Right now, all i use is a MIDI and Reason 3.0. what are the pros and cons of using protools, cubase, logic, cakewalk and any other music production recorders/mixers. Which has a high learning curve? and which is easiest to use? thanks
Unfortunately your question is as open as “What kind of car should I drive?”
Each person approaches music production in their own way, and after you’ve picked up the fundamentals, there’s really no “wrong” way of going about it.
Out of the choices you’ve listed, only Cubase and Protools are cross-platform. Cakewalk doesn’t write Sonar for Mac, and Apple doesn’t allow Logic to run on a PC. Having said that, it depends on the style of music you make.
ProTools may be “industry standard,” but that doesn’t make it the best. It’s packaged with hardware and simplified- there’s only two windows. As far as a program that can act like a tape machine, ProTools is your obvious choice. If you’re doing anything involving lots of Midi information, complex outboard synthesizer routings, or even multitudes of plugins, I’d suggest looking into the others. Cubase, Logic, and Sonar all act in a very similar fashion, so the advantage here is that once you’ve learned one, you’ve got the basics for all of them. It’s just the headier stuff like aux routings and surround bouncing algorithms that they really start to differentiate themselves.
My best advice is to spend as much time Cubase, Sonar, or Logic that you can.

Searching for online music creator software programs can be difficult. The web is crowded with music making software packages that aresound303066_mixing_desk geared for a variety of ability levels. And there is a wide variety of price tags as well. In my quest to find the best music making software, I’ve researched many of these “make your own music” offerings. In reality I’ve found that most of them are simply not worth the money. However, I’ve recently found a music creator program that is certainly worth the investment cost.
